Four Eyes

Blog Entry on the Saturday 09th, September, 2006

Despite having 20/20 vision all my life. Note when people say they have 20/20 it is normally not true, it is quite rare - but I confirm my last optician (Institute of Opthamology) said I did have perfect vision. I had coloured lens to help with my dyslexia - BTW these work.

Not the past tense, did have, I now have a slight astigmatism. The eyes-lens is not a perfect shape. Had an eye test today. I have ordered two set of glasses - the ones where you can bend the frames - say by sitting on them. Grand Total: eye test and two sets of glasses 210 pounds - or a lots of Euros.

I will try and get a pair of prescription glasses with my colour lens at some time. In the meanwhile I just have to get used to wearing glasses when I am reading, driving or on the computer - most of the day really.

livecd.org - a slashdot like Storytelling site

Blog Entry on the Monday 11th, September, 2006

I have re-launched livecd.org - to act as a news site for LiveCDs, including Morphix LiveCDs. I still have to tidy up some of the templates.

By the way - I am running it on debian-sarge. This machine is running via a single IP addreess. My normal-sites are via apache2, livecd, org is via apache(1). Slashcode prefers apache rather than apache2. One machine, two webservers, one port 80.

Mad Weekend

Blog Entry on the Sunday 17th, September, 2006

Hectic weekend. Lots of DIY - boxed in the gas meter, electricity meter and main fuse panel. Access is still possible by removing the Velcro-ed panels. Busy on the phone with work. Ended up going on Saturday to deploy some temporary traffic lights - easy design to do even late at night. Home 23:30.

Sunday finishing off the DIY. Leaving the DIY store I got stuck in a queue of traffic - the traffic lights were 'Stuck Red'. So jump out of car did a quick check - detector not working. As I had my traffic controller key with me I set the light to 'Fixed Time' (I am allowed!). Then reported the fault to Matt - as a priority 2.

Had top home-made curry made by Allyson.

Also picked up my new/first pair of glasses on sunday- I can SEE! Still getting used to them. Almost finished DIY. Cut my hair - it was getting too long. Time for a quick cup of tea then bed - _sleep_
