I heard 2nd hand, but now seen some footage
Blog Entry on the Monday 25th, October, 2004
The reason Bush still gets more than a single vote... Fox News. Have a look at the footage at Outfoxed.
Lucky we still have the BBC, brave enough to tell the truth, but getting a mauling from the Hutton Inquiry. Never happen here ? Only becuse we have the BBC:-
Trust is the foundation of the BBC: we are independent, impartial and honest.
The BBC is run in the interests of its viewers and listeners. Twelve Governors act as trustees of the public interest and regulate the BBC. They are appointed by the Queen on advice from ministers.Maybe at last a reason to be a monarchist, but not a republican, so still no votes for Bush.

White (Trash) Goods
Blog Entry on the Sunday 31st, October, 2004
A long time ago in a galaxy far far way ... I can remember DVD players being uber cool and expensive. As we have Laptops in our household what the point of splashing out on a DVD player. But whilst food shopping I picked up a DVD player in the supermarket for only 30 quid (43 Euro). Yes thirty pounds, 3K pennies
It plays anything I can throw at it DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, Files: MPEG/MP3/JPEG. On any kind of media DVD*, CD, MiniCD. [Except a DVD structre on a CD.]
It nearly a litlte bit more than cabling from the TV-Out of my server to the TV. I am tempted to buy another one just to see whats inside, the worst I end up with is a DVD drive. How could you even make a $1 profit on the DVD player ?

Haggle, ffmeg to mpeg-1
Blog Entry on the Sunday 31st, October, 2004
Spend most of the day car shopping with Allyson. Looks like we have found Allyson's Car, but I am honing my negotiation skills, haggling is fun. "Now, are you telling me that's not worth twenty shekels?"
Following on from my DVD player purchase, I have not encoded/decoded video for a while, forgot what fun it could be, but finally got it to work.
#Convert to 25 fps if needed ...
mencoder -o temp.mpg -fps 25 -oac pcm -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 input.avi
#Then ffmpeg will convert to mpeg-1 With the correct audio format
ffmpeg -i ./temp.mpg -f mpeg -vcodec mpeg1video -b 800 -g 300 -bf 2 -acodec mp2 -ab 128 output.mpg
